With this tutorial, you will learn how to create a vector.
First, open up a blank print document and make it however big you'd like.
The first thing you need to do is find yourself a sketch. You can search one on google (remember to leave the rightful owner credit), or scan one your drew yourself to your computer. The one to the left is a sketch I drew myself. You can use it if you'd like, but you may not offer the final result onto your website. Click here to open the sketch. Note that it is okay for the sketch to be sloppy or fuzzy when vectoring.
I resized my vector to 300 x 315. Now outline your vector using your pen tool, make sure it's in black. Zoom in a couple times so it's easier. Set the width of the pen stroke to 3 pt when you outline the border of the sketch. But when you start tracing the inside, change it to 2 pt.
Next, click onto your sketch and click delete on your keyboard. Make sure it's the sketch that you deleted. If not, undo. All that's left should just be a clean, simple cartoon looking vector/drawing similar to mine at the left.
Alright, so next press ctrl + a on your keyboard to select everything on your clipboard. Then click onto your live paint bucket and click onto your image to make it a Live Paint Group. Now you can easily fill each section of your vector. If you move your paint bucket around, you'll see how it splits your vector up so you can fill a little section at a time.
Now using your bucket, start filling each section of the vector to whichever color you'd like it to be. You can see how I colored my piggy in the picture to the left of this paragraph. I also adjusted the the left cheek on the vector so it matches the right.
